Officers launched a probe following the assault with intent to rob in the Trinity area of Edinburgh.

He is due to appear at Kirkwall Sheriff Court on Tuesday, June 21.

The incident occurred on Easter Road, and as previously reported, the area and surrounding streets had been closed off, with cordons in place. Police Scotland confirmed the incident was a 'hit and run' and will soon release more information.

The couple say that their bikes were stolen in the early hours of Wednesday June 15 and although one of the vehicles has been recovered another is still unaccounted for.
