Man rushed to hospital after being 'hit by car' on Scots street in 'attempted murder' bid

A man has been rushed to hospital after being 'hit by a car' on a street in Inverclyde in an alleged attempted murder bid.

The incident happened in the early hours of Saturday, September 24 when a 26-year-old man was struck by a car in the Brachelston Street area of Greenock.

Emergency services, including Police Scotland and Scottish Ambulance Service, raced to the crash site and the victim was taken to Inverclyde Hospital where he received treatment for his injuries.

The extent of his injuries are not yet known, nor is whether he has since been discharged from hospital. A photo taken at the scene, which was shared on social media, shows at least one cop van parked in the vicinity a few hours after the alleged attack.

Police tape is erected around the area where the event took place. A 35-year-old man has since appeared in court in relation with the 'disturbance'.

Robert Temporal, of Greenock, was charged with attempted murder, assault to injury and to the danger of life when he appeared at Greenock Sheriff Court on Monday, September 26.

He entered no plea and was released on bail. He will appear again at a later date.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “A 35-year-old man has been arrested and charged in connection with a disturbance that occurred in the Brachelston Street area of Greenock, around 3.15am on Saturday, 24 September, 2022.

“A 26-year-old man was taken to Inverclyde Royal Hospital in Greenock after he sustained injuries from being struck by a vehicle. The 35-year-old man appeared at Greenock Sheriff Court on Monday, 26 September.”
