Fans of Grand Theft Auto VI finally have a confirmed release date to mark on their calendars. Take-Two Interactive, the parent company of Rockstar Games, has officially reaffirmed that GTA VI will launch on November 19, 2026, putting an end to months of speculation about another possible delay.
The confirmation came during Take-Two’s latest quarterly earnings report and investor call, where the company repeated its release schedule for what is expected to become one of the biggest entertainment launches ever. For now, the title is planned only for consoles, although the company indicated that, like its previous games, broader availability could come over time.
The update is notable because Rockstar had already delayed the game from its earlier release target. Last year, Take-Two announced that GTA VI would shift to May 26, 2026, extending the wait for the long-awaited successor to 2013’s Grand Theft Auto V.
The launch was later postponed again to November 19, 2026. Industry analysts suggested the additional delay would give Rockstar more time to refine the game while also positioning the release closer to the holiday shopping season.
Take-Two sees GTA VI as a major growth engine
Despite forecasting annual bookings below Wall Street expectations, Take-Two maintained confidence in GTA VI’s commercial potential during its earnings release. According to Reuters, the company expects the game to become a major revenue driver, much like GTA V, which has sold nearly 230 million copies worldwide since launch.
Take-Two projected fiscal 2027 bookings between $8 billion and $8.2 billion, highlighting how important GTA VI is to the company’s long-term growth strategy.
The gaming giant reported revenue of $1.68 billion for the quarter, marking a 6% year-over-year increase. Net bookings reached $1.58 billion, surpassing guidance. The company also reported a 7% rise in recurrent consumer spending and operating cash flow of $624 million, both ahead of forecasts.
Take-Two CEO Strauss Zelnick also hinted that Rockstar’s marketing campaign for GTA VI is expected to begin this summer, suggesting the company is entering the final phase before launch.
Highlighting the company’s recent performance, Zelnick said, "Our exceptional results this quarter reflect our commitment to delivering high-quality entertainment experiences. We are excited about the upcoming launch of GTA VI and confident in our ability to achieve sustained growth."
