Eva Mendes has called out an Instagram page for sharing an AI image which appeared to show her partner Ryan Gosling hanging out with Johnny Depp.
The account, which posts computer-generated images of a figure named Slopaxo interacting with celebrities, had shared an image which they said was from the San Diego Comic-Con on Sunday (26.07.26).
The Opavisions page wrote alongside the picture, which looked to be of Slopaxo, Ryan and Johnny on the streets of San Diego: “Some of our favourite moments from Comic-Con weren’t on stage — they were watching Ryan Gosling, Johnny Depp, and @slopaxo moving through the crowds like the unlikeliest best-friend trio.”
Shortly after the image was posted, Eva - who shares two children with Ryan - took to the comments section to point out that the image was “FAKE”.
Eva, who has been in a relationship with Ryan since they starred together in The Place Beyond the Pines in 2011, added: “Please let people know when you’re putting out AI.”
The account responded by writing: “Ok we will sorry”.
In another comment, they told Eva they are a “big fan”, adding: “I love your movies”.
They then shared a third comment in response to Eva, writing: “DISCLAIMER: THIS WAS AI***.
“Thank you for saying something. You’re right, and I’ll be more clear going forward. BTW, Ryan’s work has genuinely inspired me for years - The Nice Guys (real SLOPAXO vibes) and Beyond the Pines are some of my favourite films ever and a huge influence on the kind of entertaining stories I love creating one day.”
Despite the fact that the image was AI generated, Ryan and Johnny did both appear at San Diego Comic-Con over the weekend - albeit separately, and to promote separate projects.
Johnny first made an appearance in character as Ebenezer Scrooge promoting upcoming Christmas movie Ebenezer, before crashing Collider’s Directors on Directors panel - still in character.
Ryan, meanwhile, made a surprise appearance at Marvel Studios’ Hall H panel, where it was announced that he will be taking on the lead role in a new Ghost Rider movie, due for release in 2028.
