WASHINGTON — President Joe Biden is considering a ban on imports of Russian oil while weighing actions that would boost energy production by autocracies in the hopes of mitigating the effects on American consumers and global energy markets, U.S. officials said.

In February 2022, the White House Office of Information and Regulatory Affairs (OIRA) reviewed 22 significant regulatory actions issued by federal agencies. OIRA approved the intent of 21 rules while recommending changes to their content. One rule was withdrawn from the review process by the issuing agency.

The Biden administration announced spending and proposed new rules to speed the transition to cleaner trucks and buses.
