Canada's Prime Minister Justin Trudeau said Wednesday there were "clear indications" that India had violated Canadian sovereignty, as the countries row over the killing of a Sikh separatist on Canadian soil last year that Ottawa blamed on New Delhi.

Canada's Prime Minister Justin Trudeau accused India Monday of making a "fundamental error," as an escalating row over the killing of a Sikh separatist on Canadian soil last year saw both countries expel each other's ambassadors.

India said Monday it was withdrawing its envoy to Canada because Ottawa was investigating him and other diplomats as "persons of interest", after the killing last year of a Sikh separatist leader.

During talks in Ottawa, French President Emmanuel Macron and Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau have expressed their shared vision on several topics – from working towards "open and decarbonised" economies and promoting the French language, to calling for a ceasefire in Lebanon.
