The ruling Eknath Shinde-led Shiv Sena faction is facing trouble over its candidate selection.

The Sena (UBT) leader indicated that if Maha Vika Aghadi (MVA) ally Congress decides against contesting from the Mumbai North constituency, his party will field a candidate there. This move comes in response to the BJP nominating Union Minister Piyush Goyal for the same constituency.

BJP’s sitting MP from Jalgaon, Unmesh Patil, reached Mumbai on April 2 where he conferred with Mr. Thackeray and Sena (UBT) leader Sanjay Raut. He is expected to join the Sena (UBT) on April 3 and could be declared as the party’s candidate for the Jalgaon seat, said sources.

While there is a tug-of-war between the Shinde Sena and the NCP (Ajit Pawar) faction over the Nashik seat, both the BJP and Mr. Shinde’s faction have staked claim on the Sambhajinagar and Ratnagiri-Sindhudurg constituencies.
