DETROIT and LAS VEGAS — Delta Air Lines Inc. on Wednesday launched free WiFi on 75% of its domestic mainline aircraft, an early step toward its overhaul of in-flight entertainment in favor of personalization and free services like Paramount+ streaming, New York Times puzzles and more.

Staffing issues have hampered the entire airline industry since the pandemic, but Delta provided a timeline for when the issue would be resolved.

ATLANTA — Delta Air Lines is moving further along its path of offering free Wi-Fi on flights, a years-long effort of testing and gradual technology upgrades.

"Demand for air travel remains robust as we exit the year and Delta's momentum is building," said CEO Ed Bastian.

"Airlines have already been through the worst recession an industry can go through," says Bastain. During the pandemic he made several strategic shifts that have allowed Delta to roar out of the gates.
