There is no quick fix for Cuba's sputtering economy, its economy minister said on Thursday, as inflation, fuel shortages, plunging farm production and a cash crunch drag on output and continue to fan discontent in the communist-run island nation.

The European Union´s top diplomat said in Havana on Thursday that the 27-member bloc remains Cuba´s top trade partner, and one committed to "mutual respect" despite U.S. sanctions and the communist-run island´s increasing overtures towards Russia.
