Tony Adams names the Arsenal player who should win PFA Player of the Year amid title prediction

Arsenal icon Tony Adams has backed Bukayo Saka to win this season's PFA Player of the Year award.

The north Londoners currently sit on top of the Premier League table, five points ahead of second-placed Manchester City, who they are yet to play this term. Young winger Saka has been one of their standout players, netting six league goals whilst providing six assists for his teammates in the process.

That kind of form hasn't gone unnoticed either, with Adams arguing that the Hale End academy graduate should be rewarded for his efforts. "Saka is a wonderkid," the former Arsenal captain told The Sun.

"He makes goals and scores goals. He should already be the PFA Player of the Year.

“I’ve been waiting for the last three years for him and Gabriel Martinelli to get tired but they just keep going. And that’s a good job for Arteta, because without those two kids dragging the team for the last two seasons, he wouldn’t still be in a job."

Despite the Gunners emphatic start to the season, Adams has admitted he has his doubts on their title credentials, admitting he is unsure if his old side will cope without summer signing Gabriel Jesus, who remains sidelined following a knee injury. He added: “What worries me now is that, when push comes to shove, Manchester City have too many options in their squad.

“There’s not a lot on the Arsenal bench and, as well as he’s doing at the moment, I don’t think you win the league with Eddie Nketiah as your striker. They need reinforcements and they need Gabriel Jesus back from injury to get them over the line.

"That could be the title decider.”
