Sugababes announce first tour in two decades after 'complicated' comeback

Sugababes have revealed that their comeback has been 'really complicated' due to a legal battle involving their name.

Mutya Buena, Keisha Buchanan and Siobhan Donaghy appeared on Thursday's This Morning to chat to Holly Willoughby and Phillip Schofield about their highly-anticipated return.

The three women were part of the original line up of the group when they first burst onto the music scene back in 1998.

However, in 2001, Siobhan departed the Sugababes and was replaced by Heidi Range as the group went on to achieve success in the charts.

By December 2005, Mutya had left the group and was replaced by Amelle Berrabah, and in September 2009, after 11 years in Sugababes, Keisha departed too and was replaced by Jade Ewen.

Speaking about when they first found fame, Siobhan told Holly and Phillip: "There was obviously a lot of scrutiny, we were three awkward teenagers and we didn’t go to stage school or anything like that and we’re still not media trained as you can probably tell, but you’re really hard on yourself and it’s so different this time round, we’re just so much more relaxed."

They've now reclaimed their name and can officially perform and release music as Sugababes again, but it hasn't been easy.

Keisha admitted: "Its been really complicated. We were fighting for the name and legally we wanted it back.

"It was really important for us because we came up with it when we were kids, but we stuck together and it’s who we are really and we’re just glad that we’ve got it back… and that’s why everything we do now means so much more," she added.

The trio confirmed that they're also embarking on their first tour in two decades and will be playing Glastonbury music festival on Friday 24 June.

At one point, Heidi Range and Amelle Berrabah were members of the group alongside Keisha (Western Mail)

Siobhan said: "And then we’re going on our first UK headline tour for quite a while! The tickets go on sale on 1st July and we are touring in October and November."

"We are so excited and already brainstorming ideas, and we have an amazing band… look at us now, we’re doing it!" Keisha added.

This Morning airs weekdays at 10am on ITV and ITV Hub.
