RB Leipzig's first words after Leeds United's four-hour Jean-Kevin Augustin hearing at CAS

Opponents RB Leipzig remain very confident in their case against Leeds United concerning Jean-Kevin Augustin after a four-hour hearing on Tuesday.

The two clubs continued the latest phase in their long-running dispute over the €21m transfer agreed in 2020 for Augustin at the Court of Arbitration for Sport.

The CAS hearing took place in Lausanne, Switzerland, where Leeds contested the decision reached by FIFA last June, which ruled Leipzig should be paid more than €6.7m in line with the first instalment the Whites missed in September 2020.

Speaking to German newspaper Frankfurter Allgemeine after the session, Leipzig’s commercial director for sport, Florian Scholz said his side remain very confident.

“RB Leipzig again clearly deposited its points in the hearing in front of the CAS,” he said. “We still see ourselves as right and are therefore very confident about the written verdict.”

A decision is not expected to be published by CAS for several weeks.
