Here you have a major star who has overcome massive obstacles, proving that people can change, and he’s walking into your store ready to spend serious money. Instead of treating him with the respect a successful patron deserves, they allegedly gave him the side-eye. Treating any customer this way is bad enough, but doing it to a successful artist trying to enjoy a shopping trip is just baffling.
It gets even crazier because Jelly Roll himself doubled down on the feeling of being profiled. He admitted he’s genuinely never been scrutinized like a criminal so badly before. He even joked that the last time people stared at him like that, he actually was one. That statement really highlights the incredible irony of the situation.
