Jim Carrey’s team has officially responded to the chaos over his “new face” and, honestly, they sound completely over it.
The 64‑year‑old made a rare public appearance at the 51st César Awards in Paris on February 26, where he picked up an Honorary César for his work in film and television.
He walked the red carpet in a black tux, with shoulder‑length hair and bright blue eyes, politely answering questions and generally behaving like a chilled, slightly older version of the guy from my illegal DVD copy ofThe Mask.

It was enough of a glow‑up that TikTok immediately went into meltdown, with users insisting “that is not Jim Carrey”, speculating about plastic surgery, and throwing around words like “clone”, “body double” and “impersonator”.
The eye‑colour thing became a particular obsession, with people swearing he’s “always had brown eyes” and using that as Exhibit A for something sinister going on.
Into that already cooked mix stepped drag queen and makeup artist Alexis Stone, who posted photos of Carrey at the Césars on Instagram with the caption “Alexis Stone as Jim Carrey in Paris”, plus an image of a Carrey‑style mask, wig, dentures and makeup kit that looked extremely AI‑generated.
Stone is known for wild prosthetic transformations, so the post poured petrol on the conspiracy fire, even as fans pointed out the mask shot looked like it had been spat out by an image generator.

Meanwhile, the people who were actually there have been pretty clear about what went down.
“Jim Carrey attended the César Awards, where he accepted his Honorary César Award,” his longtime publicist Marleah Leslie said in a blunt statement.
Gregory Caulier, general delegate of the Césars, backed that up and then some, explaining that “Jim Carrey’s attendance was arranged since last summer” and that he was “extremely touched by the Academy’s invitation”, adding that there were “eight months of ongoing, constructive discussions” and that Carrey “worked on his speech in French for months, asking me about the exact pronunciation of certain words”.
Caulier also pointed out that Carrey didn’t exactly rock up solo: “He came with his partner, his daughter, his grandson and 12 close friends and family members. His longtime publicist accompanied him. His old friend Michel Gondry… was there, and they were delighted to see each other again.”
On the whole clone panic, Caulier called it “a non‑issue” and said he’d rather people remember Carrey’s “generosity,” “kindness,” “benevolence” and “elegance”.
Inside the ceremony, Carrey delivered his acceptance speech entirely in French, thanking “my wonderful family, my daughter Jane, and my grandson Jackson. I love you now and forever. Thank you to my sublime companion, Min Ah”, before adding: “I love you, Min Ah. And finally, thank you to the funniest man I have ever known: my father, Percy Joseph Carrey who taught me the value of love, generosity, and laughter.”
The appearance also marked what seemed to be the first major public outing for Carrey and Min Ah as a couple, though they haven’t shared details about their relationship.

Carrey has previously said he was “fairly serious” about retiring from acting after Sonic the Hedgehog 2, before returning as Dr Robotnik for the third film, and he’s largely stepped back from public life over the last few years.
So a slightly different face, a new haircut and a French speech after a long break from the spotlight? Pretty normal ageing‑celebrity behaviour OR my tin-hat is on and is this all just PR for a Truman Show sequel?
