Chelsea news: Antonio Rudiger's Real Madrid 'regret' as Thibaut Courtois slams 'lucky' claims

Chelsea defender Antonio Rudiger has been told he may regret his reaction to Chelsea's Champions League elimination by Real Madrid.

Karim Benzema netted a thumping header in extra-time to crush Chelsea’s remarkable comeback as Real Madrid lost 3-2 at the Bernabeu Stadium but reached the Champions League semi-finals 5-4 on aggregate on Tuesday night. And Rio Ferdinand has sent a message to Rudiger after he was unable to hide his frustration at full-time.

It comes as former Blues goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois has responded to claims Real Madrid got "lucky" in winning the tie. And the battle to buy Chelsea has taken yet another twist as two LA Dodgers co-owners have backed opposing bids to purchase the Premier League giants.

Here are Mirror Football's latest Chelsea headlines.

Takeover takes new twist

LA Dodgers co-owners Peter Guber and Mark Walter have backed opposing bids to buy Chelsea as the club's takeover has taken a fresh twist

Guber has announced he will join a consortium fronted by Boston Celtics co-owner Steve Pagliuca while Walter, another member of the the Guggenheim Baseball Management group which own the Dodgers, is already part of Todd Boehly's consortium. It was announced on Wednesday that Guber is set to join Pagliuca's consortium – just five days after his co-owner teamed up with the Boehly bid.

Courtois slams 'lucky' claims

Real Madrid goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois has hit back at claims his side were "lucky" to progress into the semi-finals of the Champions League.

The Blues put in a brave performance as they tried to overturn a 3-1 loss in the first leg at Stamford Bridge, and took a 3-0 lead thanks to goals from Mason Mount, Antonio Rudiger and Timo Werner. But with 10 minutes to go Rodrygo struck home after Luka Modric's sublime pass before Karim Benzema hit an extra-time winner to knock Chelsea out of the tournament.

And while Courtois has admitted Chelsea were the better team on the night, he was not happy about suggestions Los Blancos had been lucky to go through.

Rudiger's Real Madrid 'regret'

Rio Ferdinand has told Antonio Rudiger he may regret his reaction to Chelsea's Champions League elimination.

The German centre-back was at fault for the winning goal in the tie as he slipped at the crucial moment as Karim Benzema powered home a header in extra-time. But Rudger was seen pushing away opponent David Alaba at the final whistle, and Ferdinand thinks the centre-back may look back and regret his actions.

Ferdinand says Rudiger won't "necessarily want to react like that or see those pictures".
