Celtic player ratings after frustrating Champions League draw vs Kairat

Kasper Schmeichel 6

Rarely troubled, as visitors struggled for much possession. One nervy moment as he was sent backtracking when long-range Edmilson strike landed on the roof of the net.

Alistair Johnston 6

A major concern when he had to be stretchered off in the first half with a suspected hamstring issue. Had been one of the better performers before withdrawal.

Cameron Carter-Vickers 6

Largely comfortable at the centre of defence. Won his duels and kept Kairat attack at bay, a heart-in-mouth moment of miscontrol in second half, but Edmilson sent over.

Liam Scales 7

A seriously dependable option for Brendan Rodgers. Solid at centre-back with the ability to play out. Looked just as at home when shifted to left-back for the final 15 minutes.

Kieran Tierney 6

More valuable minutes for the returning fan favourite. A quiet night as he continues to ramp up fitness. Not as involved going forward as he would have liked. Booked.

Callum McGregor 5

Couldn't dictate proceedings as he so often does at Celtic Park. Switched on to track back on dangerous counter-attacks, booked for pull as Kairat threatened a rapid breakaway.

Benjamin Nygren 7

A physical presence in midfield and put in a real shift in the engine room. Desperate to attack and was one of few close to carving open Kairat defence. Took a sore one in second half after a challenge in the box, no VAR intervention.

Reo Hatate 7

Offered invention and industry in the middle on and off night for many of his team-mates. Tireless in his running, with some incisive bursts into the box.

James Forrest 6

A limited first half with more time spent turning and passing backwards than causing problems in the final third. Unlucky to see a low strike hit the post early in the second period.

Daizen Maeda 5

Somewhat nullified in a challenging night. Didn't have the killer touch he often brings to Celtic. Fluffed lines with a huge chance in stoppage time with a lacklustre finish.

Adam Idah 5

A testing night for the striker. Very few touches of the ball and couldn't make it stick when he did receive it. Rodgers was clearly frustrated by the display. Hooked at halftime.

Anthony Ralston (for Johnston, 35) 5

No thrills outing. Tried to get forward where possible.

Yang (for Idah, 45) 6

Brought a spark in second half. Some nice runs and balls into box but no final touch.

Arne Engels (for Forrest, 70) 5

Couldn't provide the creativity badly needed in closing stages.

Auston Trusty (for Tierney, 77) 3

On for the final period.

Shin Yamada (for Nygren, 77) 3

Thrown on as the last sub for Celtic. Didn't have a sight of goal.
