New York City mayor Zohran Mamdani was interrupted by a WWE-style gatecrasher during a rally to mark his first 100 days in office.
During his speech to a packed house at Brooklyn’s Knockdown Center, Mamdani referenced the example of former Burlington mayor Bernie Sanders, a favorite of fellow Democratic Socialist Mamdani, but told the crowd the Vermont now-Senator couldn’t be with them.
The lights then cut out and AC/DC’s “Back in Black” blasted through the speakers as Sanders emerged to cheers from the crowd and a warm hug from a smiling Mamdani who was in on the ruse.
The veteran politician addressed the crowd on his oft-stated themes of wealth inequality, oligarchy, and the threat of AI to working people.
