West Dunbartonshire Council says members of the public will have a say on the layout and development of the memorial gardens.

Money has been set aside to develop the studio, with West Dunbartonshire Council identifying a building at Richmond Street which could be used, although some councillors raised concerns over the cost.

The council leader has hit back saying the money is ringfenced and "can’t go towards feeding weans".

A spokesman for the Scottish Government said that the new funding model was fairer - despite West Dunbartonshire losing more than £2m as the attainment gap widens.

The plans would see cabbies over the age of 45 requiring to provide a medical certificate before being granted a license.

Labour leader Martin Rooney says the plans are "completely bonkers".

West Dunbartonshire Council refused to allow the Sheephill site to be extended in March last year after 20 years of debate.

Reducing the number of pupils who qualify for school travel, charging for brown bin collections and cancelling fireworks displays and Christmas lights switch-ons have also been suggested on a list of 47 cuts presented to councillors last week.

The council will commit itself to the changes which will be brought in by whoever wins the council election later this year.
