Actor Ben Savage has joined the race for a U.S. House seat in Southern California

LANSING, Mich. — Attorney General Dana Nessel's investigators have interviewed Laura Cox, the former chairwoman of the Michigan GOP, and other prominent Republican officials as they examine whether 16 Donald Trump supporters broke the law by signing a certificate falsely claiming he won the 2020 election.

The attorney general argued the House unconstitutionally passed its federal spending bill because not enough members were physically present to vote. Both Republicans and Democrats voted by proxy throughout the pandemic.

In 2022, 551 officials in Congress and state legislatures ran for a different office than the one to which they were elected. That’s a 61% increase from 2020, when Ballotpedia tracked 344 officials in Congress and state legislatures who ran for a different office.
