Organisers of the Paris 2024 Olympics have confirmed they are thrashing out plans to allow Russian athletes into the event as "neutrals", despite calls from the Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky to ban them due to the conflict between the two countries.

The Olympic Council of Asia (OCA) said on Thursday it has offered to let Russian and Belarusian athletes take part in the Asian Games, a first step towards them competing at the Paris 2024 summer Olympics.

Russian and Belarusian athletes could participate in Asian events with the International Olympic Committee looking at options for their return to international competitions.
