Ukrainian officials say Russia launched a ballistic missile attack on a residential area in the central city of Kryvyi Rih.

Kryvyi Rih, the hometown of Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, is often targeted by Russian strikes. The city lies around 70 kilometres from the nearest frontline.

The claim from Kyiv comes after Russia launched a massive overnight attack on Ukraine killing at least four people, according to authorities.

The air strikes came as diplomatic talks were being held on a ceasefire plan
