Schoolboy Archie Battersbee, 12, had been in a coma since April after suffering a catastrophic brain injury, with his parents lodging several appeals to keep his ventilator on

The parents, who are separated but both live in Southend, Essex, applied to the Court of Appeal on Friday after losing a High Court bid to have him moved to a hospice before his life-sustaining treatment was withdrawn.

As the life-sustaining support is expected to be withdrawn from Archie Battersbee today his mum has said the machines hooked up to her son will haunt her for the rest of her life

A spokesman with Christian Concern, which is supporting the 12-year-old's family, said: "All legal routes have been exhausted. The family are devastated and are spending precious time with Archie."
