The manual is dying—at least, that’s what we’ve heard. The numbers, though, aren’t nearly as dire as you might think. While a handful of companies did ditch manual offerings in 2025, some of the ones that kept their old-school shifter alive actually saw sales increase compared to previous years.

BMW outsold every other luxury brand to become America’s best-seller in 2025. The German automaker sold 388,897 vehicles last year, a 4.7 percent increase. Lexus was the country’s second-best-selling luxury brand, with 370,260 cars sold.  

Better late than never, Audi is about to enter the full-size luxury SUV segment.
