Young team earn praise from manager Mark Brash as Blairgowrie win Perthshire derby against Coupar Angus

Manager Mark Brash hailed the young team who stepped up and contributed to Saturday afternoon’s Perthshire derby success.

He watched his Blairgowrie side travel to near neighbours Coupar Angus and earn maximum Midlands League points courtesy of a 3-0 triumph.

Matty Adam opened the scoring with 34 minutes played at Foxhall Park and that is how the scoreline stood at interval.

But goals after the break from youngsters Craig McLellan and Kaisey Brown - the latter a penalty - wrapped up the victory in style.

“It was a good performance from the boys,” said Brash, who also singled out the “sensational” performance of Cammy McManus.

“We controlled the game and could have had more goals. Both goalkeepers had some fine saves in an entertaining game.

“Matty Adam scored a cracking goal and his hold-up play makes him a real focal point for the team.

“The young team really showed up on Saturday afternoon too with Craig McLennan and Kaisey Brown both getting on the scoresheet.

“What was really pleasing was finishing the match with five players on the park who were 18 years of age or younger.”
