NotebookLM is said to be getting a new Data Table artefact and a Deep Research mode soon. The details were first revealed by Testing Catalog, which found references to these features in recent builds of the platform.

The new Data Table artefact will allow us to create structured tables for comparing and analysing information from multiple sources. This will be useful for professionals who work with varied datasets, including those who handle reports and researchers who need organised data outputs.
The upcoming Deep Research mode, on the other hand, is said to build on the platform’s existing Fast Research feature. While Fast Research works like a quick search across sources, Deep Research is expected to perform more detailed exploration, similar to how Gemini handles deeper queries.
Apart from that, Testing Catalog also found that Google is improving Slides generation inside NotebookLM, with a new settings menu that allows users to select a language and add custom prompts for more control. Other small tweaks include better support for managing multiple sources and an option to download video transcripts, which could help creators reuse or edit content more easily.
Obviously, Google has not confirmed when these features will arrive, but their presence in testing suggests they could roll out soon. Also, no details are currently available on whether these capabilities will be limited to NotebookLM Plus or be part of the standard version.
That’s not all, recently NotebookLM has received some big upgrades across its web and mobile versions. For example, the mobile app now gets a new studio design for creating audio overviews with language and length controls. Plus, the company has also indicated that chat-saving and other web features like Cards, Quizzes, and Source Discovery will soon come to mobile.
