Google just gave NotebookLM’s video overview feature a big update with its latest Nano Banana model. The new update makes learning from dense documents not only easier but also more visually engaging. Nano Banana can now generate contextual illustrations based on the content you upload, turning otherwise text-heavy material into clear, visual summaries.
The video overviews feature now comes with six style options, including Watercolor, Papercraft, Anime, Whiteboard, Retro Print, and Heritage. Each of these options gives a different feel, from playful animations to professional explainer visuals.
Apart from that, the company has also introduced two new video formats to match different needs. One is Explainer, which gives a detailed, structured video that dives deep into your source material. Another is Brief, which gives a shorter, bite-sized version that quickly covers the key ideas.
Creating a video overview is simple: just select your sources in NotebookLM, click the “Video Overview” button, and use the pencil icon to customize. You can choose the format, visual style, or even set focus areas like “Highlight only the cost analysis sections” or “Show just the prep and cooking steps.”
Once you hit generate, NotebookLM handles the rest, transforming your content into an AI-narrated video that’s both informative and visually rich.
The new Nano Banana-powered Video Overviews are rolling out this week to Pro users, with a wider release planned for all users in the coming weeks.
