Woman stretchered off Brecon Beacons after ravine fall

A woman had to be stretchered off the Brecon Beacons by mountain rescuers after sustaining chest injuries during a ravine fall on Sunday afternoon (August 28). The Brecon Mountain Rescue Team was called out to help the woman who fell in a ravine near Cwm Oergwm.

The team's casualty carers checked over the woman and stretchered her out of the ravine to safety. She was then reassessed and was able to walk back to the team's RV vehicle assisted by team members, where she was met by paramedics from the Welsh Ambulance Services NHS Trust.

Brecon Mountain Rescue Team said on Facebook: "The team were called this afternoon to a lady who had sustained chest injuries after a fall in a ravine near Cwm Oergwm. The casualty was checked over by team casualty carers and stretched out of the ravine to safety.

"The casualty was then reassessed and managed to walk back to the RV assisted by team members, where she was met by Welsh Ambulance Services NHS Trust."

The rescue team responds to calls 24hrs a day, 365 days a year and is a fully voluntary service. It is currently raising funds for a new headquarters and is asking anyone willing to support it to donate here. Last week, the team was called out to a family of six caught out in the hot weather above the Caban Coch reservoir in the Elan Valley. One member of the group was showing signs of heatstroke and they were unsure of their position. The family made "a very generous" donation to the team.
