A 66-year-old woman is in hospital under police guard after authorities discovered the bodies of two boys in a Coonabarabran home on Monday afternoon.
On Monday, May 5, at about 2pm, police officers attended a home on Emu Lane, Coonabarabran, after receiving reports of a concern for welfare.
When authorities arrived at the scene, two boys — aged six and seven — were found dead inside the home.
NSW Police reported that a 66-year-old woman was arrested at the scene and was taken to hospital, where she remains under hospital guard.

Police add that the woman and children were known to each other, and have also reported that there’s no ongoing threat to the community.
Per 9News, NSW Premier Chris Minns said he “can not begin to imagine the heartbreak” of the boys’ loved ones.
“What has occurred is terrible and as a state we share in the community of Coonabarabran’s grief at the loss of two young boys who had their entire futures ahead of them,” Minns said, per the publication.
“I can not begin to imagine the heartbreak their loved ones are currently feeling, including their family, friends, and teachers.
“I thank the local officers who attended the scene for their professionalism and bravery in the face of such a horrible event.”
Homicide detectives are now investigating the tragic deaths.
