Wimbledon: Nick Kyrgios' royal connection, gorgeous girlfriend and vast fortune

Nick Kyrgios ' Wimbledon journey has already taken tennis fans on a wild ride.

After his first game, the Australian had spat towards a spectator, called a line judge ‘old’, battled through a five-set thriller, served underarm and eaten a box of food in an interview.

One of the more exciting starts a player has had to this year’s tournament, few would argue that Kyrgios is not, at least, a character.

He had grown frustrated by apparently disrespectful behaviour in the crowd that appeared to finally tip the Canberra man over the edge.

Admitting he spat in the direction of a particular spectator, Kyrgios said: "I've been dealing with hate and negativity for a long time, so I don't feel like I owed that person anything.

"Like, he literally came to the match to not even support anyone really, it was more just to stir up and disrespect. That's fine. But if I give it back to you, then that's just how it is."

The 27-year-old’s brow-raising on-court activity, however, is also part of an exciting and interesting life off-court - including royal lineage.

Nick Kyrgios’ royal blood

Nick Kyrgios’ mother was born a member of the Selangor royal family of Malaysia, which in it has the Sultan of Selagnor.

The Sultan of Selagnor is the ruler of Selagnor, a Malaysian state on the west coast of the country’s peninsular that surrounds the capital city, Kuala Lumpur.

Kyrigos’ mother was part of the family but sacrificed her title as a princess when in her twenties she moved to Australia.

She moved to Australia with her mother, but has since invited members of the family to come and watch her son play, the Sydney Morning Herald reports.

Six-foot-four Nick Kyrgios is in a relationship with 22-year-old Costeen Hatzi .

She recently congratulated her boyfriend on his “stressful” first-round win against Brit Paul Jubb on June 28.

In a video after the win, she said: “First round at Wimbledon complete. Super proud of your win.”

Currently tennis’ bad boy, Nick has often been seen out and about with Costeen, the two no strangers to public displays of affection, often walking holding hands and he was snapped kissing her hand during this year’s Wimbledon.

Costeen has created a number of makeup and beauty tutorials online working as a social media influencer and is the owner of a luxury furniture store.

Nick Kyrgios' net worth

According to the ATP, Nick Kyrgios has amassed £8,165,617 in career prize money across both singles and doubles, a huge fortune for someone who only turned pro 10 years ago.

When the Australian Capital Territories’ tennis body, Tennis ACT, announced a grand new redevelopment of the state’s tennis facility, Kyrgios donated $10,000 to help with the project.
