2026 is about to get aggressive with WWE 2K26’s release just around the corner. With just over two weeks remaining, players are ready to dive into the ring to test out their favourite superstars. Be it PlayStation, Xbox, Nintendo Switch, or even PC, the game covers all bases when it comes to platforms.
Well, most of them at least. Today, I’ll be talking about whether or not PlayStation 4 owners will be privy to WWE 2K26, or if an upgrade is necessary.
Will WWE 2K26 Be On PS4?

No. WWE 2K26 will not be releasing on PlayStation 4 or any other last-gen consoles, for that matter. The game will release on all aforementioned platforms, but only for the latest versions. Xbox Series X/S. PlayStation 5, Nintendo Switch 2, and PC.
I’m sure this is quite disappointing to a lot of players. Not just those with the PlayStation 4, but others who won’t be able to play with their friends now, either. But while this may seem like an off-putting decision, it was required to take the game to the next level. Let me explain why.
Hardware Limitations On Older Consoles
The main reason WWE 2K26 and several other recent titles won’t support older-gen consoles is because of the hardware limitations. It’s no surprise that the latest-gen consoles have superior hardware compared to their predecessors, meaning they can run games on much higher graphics and handle more advanced features.
This is an issue that MLB also faced, where graphics had to be lowered to accommodate the Switch. While a few nitty-gritty details are fine to let go of, WWE 2K26 definitely wanted players to get the best immersive experience possible.
WWE 2K25 did support older-gen consoles like the PS4 and Xbox One, but WWE 2K26 won’t follow suit. The memory and processing demands required by the game just aren’t suitable for PlayStation 4. New match types like I Quit and Dumpster Match, an expanded roster and Creation Suite, and improved game modes won’t hold up with outdated hardware, which is why a PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, Nintendo Switch 2, or PC will be required to enjoy the wrestling game of the year.
