Who's who on Balcony for King Charles' Coronation - and royals who were snubbed

King Charles and Queen Camilla waved to tens of thousands of well-wishers from the Buckingham Palace Balcony this afternoon to celebrate their Coronation.

The newly crowned couple were joined by senior members of the Royal Family and other members of the Coronation party for the historic moment, just as the late Queen and Prince Philip did at her Coronation, and her parents before her.

The King and Queen then returned back to the balcony for a second appearance just the two of them.

While most of us know the key players on the balcony, many royal fans were left scratching their heads about who some of the less-often seen members of the family were.

There were also some big names missing, despite the late Queen always ensuring they were included in her Balcony line-ups.

Here's your full who's who guide to King Charles' Coronation Buckingham Palace Balcony moment.

The King and Queen

Unsurprisingly, Charles and Camilla were front and centre for the historic family moment, dressed in all their finery from the earlier ceremony at Westminster Abbey.

They beamed as they stood side-by-side to wave to members of the public below. Charles was wearing the Imperial State Crown while Camilla was ion the Queen Mary's crown.

Prince William and Princess Kate

As the new heir to the throne, Prince William has been a huge form of support throughout the Coronation prep and was by his father's side.

He and Kate had two of the best spots and seemed in their element as they chatted to their three children about the impressive Red Arrows flypast.

The Wales family are regulars on the balcony and have been involved in every appearance in recent years. They made two during the Queen's Platinum Jubilee weekend alone.

Prince George, Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis

It's always the children who make the balcony appearances fun, as the excitement on their faces is clear to see. Little Louis stole the show at the Queen's Platinum Jubilee celebrations last year, and he didn't disappoint at the Coronation appearance. He treated well wishers to a little dance and did some clapping.

He was joined by his big brother and sister, George and Charlotte, and the royal trio stayed close to their parents.

Princess Anne and Vice Admiral Timothy Laurence

The King's younger sister was joined by her second husband Timothy on the balcony. Despite the pair tying the knot more than 30 years ago 1992 and him accompanying her on many royal tours, he has a very low royal profile. This left many Coronation viewers wondering who he was when he joined The Firm on the balcony.

He wasn't handed a title when he married into the Royal Family, but has always been extremely close to his in-laws. In 2011, the Queen made him a Knight Commander of the Royal Victorian Order.

In the days after the Queen's death in September last year, he supported Anne as she escorted her mother's coffin back to Buckingham Palace from Scotland. He sat by his wife's side offering vital support during the long and emotional journey.

Prince Edward and Sophie, the Duke and Duchess of Edinbugh

Charles' youngest brother and his wife were also included in the line-up. Sophie is often described as the Royal Family's 'secret weapon' and is very close to Princess Kate.

While quite low down the line of succession, the couple stepped up their royal duties to fill the gaps left by Prince Andrew, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle.

They now carry out regular engagements and are a hit with royal fans.

The Pages

The King and Queen had eight pages for their Coronation, and each has a close relationship with the couple.

The most famous was Prince George, who was the youngest of the group. When the announcement was made, a well-placed insider said: "The King is very keen to show those in the line of succession, his natural heirs, at the centre of his Coronation.

"Even though he is only nine, George is very mature and already has a deep understanding of the roles of his grandfather and father, as well as his future role."

Charles' other pages were Lord Oliver Cholmondeley, Nicholas Barclay and Ralph Tollemache. Supporting Camilla as her Pages were her grandchildren - Gus and Louis Lopes, Freddy Parker Bowles and Arthur Elliot.

Lady Louise and James, Earl of Wessex

The late Queen's youngest grandchildren, Louise and James, are the children of Edward and Sophie.

Due to their low position in the line of succession, they aren't working royals and stay firmly out of the spotlight.

Lady Louise, who was often described as the Queen's favourite grandchild, started university in October. She took a place a St Andrew's, which is where Kate and William studied.

Camilla's Companions

Two of the Queen's closest supporters were by her side for the Coronation, and they also joined her on the balcony.

The first was her sister, Annabel Elliot. Annabel, aged 74, is an interior designer and antiques expert and is said to be close with Charles and Camilla.

The other is Fiona Mary Petty-Fitzmaurice, the Marchioness of Lansdowne, who has served as one of six Queen's Companions to Queen Camilla since 2022.

Who is missing?

The balcony line up is much smaller than we're used to seeing, which is fitting with King Charles' plans for a slimmed down Monarchy.

His decision to limit the moment to just working royals, as the late Queen did with her final outings, has ruled many of his relatives out.

Earlier on in the preparations, maybe were hoping we would see Prince Harry and Meghan Markle's children Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet make their debut, but the couple's decision for them to remain in the US means this didn't happen.

Despite travelling back to the UK for the Coronation ceremony, Harry wasn't invited to join his family on the balcony. This is because he's no longer a working royal.

Prince Andrew was forced to step down from royal duties over his connections to convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein. While he was invited to watch his brother be crowned, the invitation wasn't extended to the balcony.

Also missing are his two daughters, Princesses Beatrice and Eugenie, and their husbands. As grandchildren of Queen Elizabeth they were always included previously, but like Harry they're not working royals so weren't included.
