Who got fired on The Apprentice last night and what is next week's task?

Lord Sugar had plenty to chew over during last night’s The Apprentice. The teams were tasked with selling live to the nation on one of the country’s leading TV shopping channels.

Brittany Carter, who claimed she’s passionate about TV shopping channels and has bought a few things herself in the past, put herself forward to be project manager. In the other team Akshay Thakrar put himself forward to prove to Lord Sugar he’s worthy of becoming his future business partner.

One team’s failure to charm the head buyer saw them miss out on the high-value star item and therefore lose out on the task. Both teams struggled with nerves and had to contend with some interference from their team members in the gallery. But one team overcame this and managed to sell more.

Read on to find out who got fired from BBC's The Apprentice and what to expect next week.

Who got fired on The Apprentice last night?

Apprentice candidate Akshay Thakrar (BBC/PA)

The ninth contestant to leave The Apprentice is Akshay Thakrar. He volunteered as project manager for last night’s task but unfortunately the team lost by roughly £400.

This was the eighth time Thakrar was in the losing team and sixth time in the bottom three. Needless to say it was an easy decision for Lord Sugar.

Dubbed ‘a cat with nine lives’, many viewers are surprised Akshay made it this far in the process given that he has been in the bottom three plenty of times. Soon after firing Akshay Lord Sugar told him to ‘Keep in touch’ which was something we’ve never seen on the show before.

Akshay will continue working on his own project, saying: “This result didn’t go my way but I won’t let it stop me. My focus now is to grow my marketing agency SAI Network and take it to the next level!”

What is next week's task?

Next week’s task is to create and brand a new baby food, then pitch and sell it to leading retailers. The team that cooks up the biggest profit wins.

Half the members of each team will head to a kitchen to create their baby team whilst the rest will oversee the branding of the product. The BBC claims mistakes are made by both teams, including a tasteless logo, which leads to a problematic pitch.
