After the 2025 Ryder Cup at Bethpage Black, thoughts will begin turning to the 46th edition of the match, which will take place at spectacular Adare Manor in County Limerick, Ireland, for the first time.
Adare Manor is ranked as one of the best golf courses in Ireland, while it is also a regular feature in our Top 100 golf courses in UK and Ireland, with a ranking of 27th in 2025/26.
It will mark only the second time the Ryder Cup has been held in the Emerald Isle, with the 2006 event having been staged at The K Club in County Kildare. At the tournament, Ian Woosnam's home side trounced Team USA 18.5 - 9.5.
Adare Manor opened in 1995, and it has since hosted numerous high-profile amateur and professional events, including the 2007 and 2008 Irish Open and the J. P McManus Pro-Am in 2005, 2010 and 2022.
That event, which raises money for local charities, regularly attracts some of the biggest names on the planet, including Tiger Woods and Rory McIlroy.
The course was completely redesigned in 2016. Leading American designer Tom Fazio was the man chosen for the job of fully reinvigorating the original Robert Trent Jones Sr design. He kept the same routing, but rebuilt every tee, bunker, green and water feature. A SubAir System was also installed under all 18 greens.

So, what can players expect from the course? Well, Adare Manor has been described as the nearest course in Europe to play like Augusta National. Like the home of The Masters, there is no deep rough, while the greens are fast and there are plenty of run-off areas.
Many players have praised the course, including Padraig Harrington, who said: “It’s second to none. A fantastic design, fantastic development, with the hotel and clubhouse. There’s nothing better.”
Although many have nothing but warm words for the layout, Jon Rahm claimed that Adare Manor currently suits the Americans more than the Europeans, with the Spaniard explaining that: "Fazio has done an amazing redesign of the golf course. It's beautiful and this golf course can be made as easy as they want and as hard as they want, right. It's the beauty of a good challenge.

"Now with that said, for a European possibly in that Ryder Cup, they might need to spend a lot of time and resources on de-Americanising the golf course. Because right now, it would be pretty much what you would expect in a Ryder Cup in the US."
Whether that will happen between now and 2027 remains to be seen, but regardless, it is sure to be a fitting location for one of the most celebrated contests in the game.
