‘When do you move out?’: Woman gets Louis Vuitton chocolate purse on first date. Then her roommate shatters it

A woman’s living situation has become a debate on TikTok after she accidentally broke her roommate’s gift from a first date. TikToker Ella (@tallertoddlers) posted a video of finding her roommate’s $249 Louis Vuitton chocolate purse–and 51 million people watched her shatter it into a million pieces.

Ella’s mega-viral video has ignited a ferocious debate on the social media platform in just the three days it’s been up. The clip starts with her walking to the fridge and opening it, saying, “Can you imagine how it felt opening the fridge to get some [expletive] leftovers and finding this?”

Ella holds up a Louis Vuitton-branded chocolate purse with the single handle it has left. Viewers can clearly see that the handle she’s holding has a crack at the base. Seconds later, the handle breaks off and the bag falls to the floor. The pieces can be heard scattering across the floor as Ella covers her mouth in shock (while still holding the handle.)

“I just broke the chocolate purse my roommate was gifted on a first date,” she says. “I have to stop the video now.”

People came for her

Viewers were quick to chastise her and didn’t hold back in the comments section. One of them demanded, “Why would you even touch it?” Another viewer earned 1 million likes on their comment that read: “I’d be so mad at you.”

Many thought it was rude for Ella to be touching her roommate’s stuff, regardless of whether it was a $249 product.

“Touching her food with your bare hands,” one said. Another jokingly asked her when she would move out.

However, several viewers came to her defense. Many pointed out that the roommate should’ve been more careful in storing the chocolate purse.

“But also, why is it just chilling without a box or some packaging?” one user asked. While another wrote,  “It’s chocolate you guys it’s not that deep. It was an accident. You would end of friendship because someone broke your chocolate purse unintentionally. Hell, it could’ve fell out the freezer.”

It gets worse

As if breaking the purse wasn’t enough, Ella posted a follow-up TikTok where she does a taste test of it. In the clip, she and her roommate’s friend take a bite of the now-broken purse. She says she and her roommate, Avery, will “hash it out” in a part three video. But for now, she tries the middle part of the purse, which is hazelnut. She compares it to Hershey’s.

“It’s giving Willy Wonka,” the friend says.

If viewers were upset at first, they are livid at this follow-up.

“First you broke it… now you’re eating it.. WITHOUT HER,” a user wrote. “Whaaaat. Please keep these kind of friends away from me.” Another echoed this sentiment, writing, “May this kind of roommate never find me.”

“If this is rage baiting, I’m baited,” a user added.

Where it all started

Because of the virality of Ella’s video, it didn’t take long for users to find Avery’s original video talking about the purse. In a TikTok posted on May 22, user Avery (@aveeeeery) shared how she arrived at a first date to find a Louis Vuitton bag sitting on her chair. She took the bag home and showed viewers how her date had gifted her a chocolate purse. In the clip, she stores it in the fridge–the same fridge that would be the crime scene of Ella’s video.

“I appreciate the gesture, I really do,” Avery continues. “But I genuinely don’t know what to do with her.”

Recent comments began flooding in on Avery’s weeks-old post. “Hypothetically how upset would you be if it broke,” a top comment read. “Hey Avery, I’m from the future. Take that out of your fridge now! Trust me!” another joked.

Avery has yet to make an update video.

However, Ella did. Her last video on this saga was a clip from two days ago, stating Avery was coming back from the airport, and Ella would now have to face the music.

Louis V’s chocolate bags

According to the designer bag manufacturer’s website, the confections are made by pastry chef Maxime Frédéric. “This year, the ‘Chocolate Egg Bag’, inspired by the iconic model created by Nicolas Ghesquière, Artistic Director of the Women’s collections, is transformed into chocolate,” the site writes. They are only available at select cities, including Paris, New York, Shanghai, and Singapore.

The Mary Sue reached out to Ella and LVMH via email and to Avery via TikTok message.
