Colorado woman removes her $2000 rings for tanning at Palm Beach Tan. Then they’re gone, and the staff acts suspicious: ‘Like, I don’t know’

A Colorado woman shared on TikTok that she left two expensive rings at a Palm Beach Tan location and later found them missing. Karolina Jaskot’s TikTok video has gained 191,700 views. She said she always wears a gold Cartier love ring and a white Christian Dior ring when she leaves her house. She bought both as gifts to herself, saying one some time ago and the other more recently. The two rings together cost her nearly $2,000 of her own money, she said.

Jaskot described going about her errands one day, including picking up prescriptions and scheduling a nail appointment for herself and her mother. Because the weather in Colorado had been bad, she said she went to the tanning salon around 4 p.m. She said she arrived at about 3:54 p.m. and found no one at the front desk. Workers were apparently sitting in a spray tan room. She said someone eventually checked her in, and she went to her usual room.

Jaskot said she took off the two rings and set them on the bench. She said she changed into a swimsuit, applied lotion, and used the tanning bed. Afterward, she said, she got dressed and wiped herself down. She stated the rings were still on the bench at that point. She said she left them under a sign that advised using eye protection, along with her towel, jeans, and goggles. She said she forgot the rings when she left the salon.

Security footage and employee actions under review after rings disappear

Jaskot said that about 25 minutes later, while checking in at her nail appointment, she realized the rings were missing. She said she called the tanning salon right away. She told them she had been in a specific room 25 to 30 minutes earlier and described the rings.

She said she would return in about an hour after her appointment to pick them up, and gave her name as Carolina. According to her, the person on the phone told her the rings were not there. Jaskot said she asked if anyone else had used the room after her and was told no one had. She said she asked if the room had been cleaned and was told yes, it had been cleaned by a worker.

Jaskot said she left her nail appointment early, with only gel X nails started, and drove back to the salon. She said that when she arrived, four workers were standing at the front. She said she had also asked for the manager’s phone number and was told the person present was the district manager. She said she searched the room, looked under the bed, and checked her own belongings, including her jeans, purse, tanning bag, and car. She stated the rings were nowhere to be found.

Jaskot said she then called the police. She said she sat in the parking lot for about an hour and watched no one else enter the salon. She told viewers she believed only a worker could have taken the rings because no other customer had entered the room and a worker had cleaned it. She noted that the police could not do much without probable cause to search the employees. She said this was the first time she had ever called police about anything.

In a follow-up TikTok video, Jaskot provided more details from security footage she said she reviewed. She said that after she left the salon, three of the four workers stayed in the lobby. One worker, she said, went to clean her room and another room. According to her, that worker spent only two or three minutes in the first room but stayed longer in her room.

Jaskot, who said she is a psychology major, described the body language of the workers on the footage. She said the employee she had suspected from the start appeared nervous, playing with her hair, hands, and fingers. She said the other three employees seemed calm and appeared to have no idea where the rings were.

Jaskot said that when she returned to search for the rings, the three other workers apologized and said they would let her know if the rings turned up. She said the suspected employee stared off, continued fidgeting, and made a joke. Jaskot said she was not laughing because she was stressed. She stated that the same employee was questioned three times by managers about the rings.

She said that after the police left, the employee was asked why she had not been searched. Jaskot noted that the employee was brand new and still in training. According to her, the camera footage showed only that employee going into the room where the rings had been left. Such situations of lost valuables and confusion are not uncommon, as when a woman accidentally left her purse in a Tennessee urgent care.

Jaskot also addressed comments about her Cartier ring. She held up a thicker, worn gold Cartier band and explained that she owns two Cartier rings. She said the missing one was a thinner band. She said the Dior ring was also missing. She said she planned to wait about a week and then return to the salon to see if the rings appeared on the employee’s hands.

She also said she planned to try to find the employee on social media, though she said that had been difficult so far. Speaking about the location, she said, “Like, I don’t know. This is also the regular place that I normally do go to because it’s kind of like right in between where I am always am at.”

In a third update on TikTok, Jaskot said there was still no news on the rings. She said she had been communicating with a police officer. She said they had spoken on Monday, and she was told everyone involved was supposed to be interviewed, but she had not heard further details. She said she did not have the serial numbers for the rings.

She said she felt naked without the thin Cartier band and the Dior ring that she normally wears. She said she planned to work overtime to buy replacements soon and intended to cancel her membership at that Palm Beach Tan location after the current monthly fee period ended.

Palm Beach Tan commented on her TikTok first video and messaged her, expressing that they take the matter seriously and that someone had been trying to reach her. Jaskot said she had been in contact with them from the beginning. Such disputes over alleged theft can escalate quickly, as when a woman was accused of stealing her own sweatshirt at Walmart.

Some viewers left comments under the original video. One wrote, “These rings are expensive… tell the police you want camera pulled or to be interviewed independently.” Another said, “are you in denver because i’ve had close to the same experience.. with my very expensive sunglasses, i felt gaslit.” A third suggested, “Girl find them on socials and see if they’re wearing them.” Others advised checking pawn shops or returning to the salon later to see if anyone was wearing the rings.
