What roles Princess Anne, Prince William and Prince George have in King Charles Coronation

King Charles III will be officially crowned today and some his family will have a starring role alongside him at the Coronation.

The King and Queen Consort will leave Buckingham Palace at around 10:20am and process to Westminster Abbey ahead of the service starting at 11am.

Following the service there will be another much larger procession back to the palace and the Princess Royal, Anne will have a big role in this.

The Princess Royal will feature in the procession as the prestigious “Gold-Stick-in-Waiting”, a position historically handed to a person entrusted with the personal safety of the sovereign. As Charles and Camilla ride in the Gold State Coach back to Buckingham Palace, Anne will lead the larger procession on horseback featuring 6,000 armed services personnel.

The privilege dates back to the 15th century in Tudor times, when two officers - a Gold Stick and a Silver Stick, were placed close to the sovereign to protect him or her from danger. Other members of the royal family will also feature heavily in the coronation.

Prince William will have a large role as he officially pledges allegiance to his father as part of the coronation service.

His eldest son and second in line to the throne Prince George, nine, will serve as one of four Pages of Honour for King Charles. He and his fellow pages will process behind Charles in the ceremony and hold his ceremonial robes.

George's siblings Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis will have no formal role in the coronation, but they are likely to be seated at the front of the Abbey alongside their mum Kate, the Princess of Wales.

Prince Harry, the Duke of Sussex, will be there but will also have no formal role in the proceedings and his wife Meghan Markle and their children Prince Archie and Princess Lillibet will not be attending the service. The king's other siblings Prince Andrew and Prince Edward will also not have a formal role at the coronation, but they will be in attendance.
