Emiliano Martinez, the celebrated goalkeeper who played a crucial role in Argentina's FIFA World Cup win in Qatar, inaugurated the Pele-Maradona-Sobers Gate at the iconic Mohun Bagan club. Football enthusiasts flocked to the venue, eager to catch a glimpse of Martinez, known for his remarkable saves.
During the event, Martinez was also honoured for his outstanding contribution.
The gate is named in tribute to three legendary sports figures: Pele, the Brazilian football icon; Maradona, the revered Argentine football great; and Garry Sobers, the crickeet legend from the West Indies.
Pele passed away in December last year due to colon cancer, while Maradona died in November 2020.
