Virgin Media star Martin King says wife Jenny's recovery from second brain tumour was 'awful'

TV star Martin King has spoken about about his wife Jenny McCarthy’s "awful" recovery from a second brain tumour.

Celebrity photographer Jenny was diagnosed with a second brain tumour last year and underwent brain surgery to remove it, after previously having a similar surgery in 2011. Virgin Media star Martin revealed Jenny’s recovery was a lot worse the second time around.

He said: “I wasn’t as worried going into it this time around, but the recovery was an awful lot worse.

“Jenny was out after three days but her face swelled up and she ended up going back into hospital three times,” he revealed in Woman’s Way magazine.

Last year, Jenny told RSVP magazine that it had been a tough road to recovery. "I am feeling good. I am absolutely fine during the day, but I find I am much more tired in the evening than I would have been previously," she said.

"The surgery was quite recent, so I hope that gets better. It was a benign brain tumour but there was talk of me having to get radiotherapy and chemotherapy. When it had grown, it was beside where the last tumour was, very close to the speech and language area in my brain.

"Martin and I went back to see the surgeon in March and I knew from him that he was going to say something that I didn’t want to hear. He said that he couldn’t guarantee that if the tumour came back that it wouldn’t affect my speech the next time.

"He was 50/50 on what to do so he decided to do another scan at the end of April. I didn’t say this to anyone until now and I was just going to and from work filling the days until I got the scan. My hair probably would have fallen out because of the treatment on my hair."

Just before Christmas, Jenny received the all-clear on an MRI scan. She said at the time: "The best news!! Just got the results from my MRI brain scan this evening and it is clear.

"What a year! Now time to drink pink Moet cause I bloody deserve it."
