Victor Wembanyama struggled in his first trip to Madison Square Garden, and Knicks fans were ruthless.

Spurs rookie Victor Wembanyama wasn’t lacking any confidence ahead of his first NBA game at Madison Square Garden against the Knicks.

But after saying before the game that he expected MSG to be bigger than it actually is, Wembanyama and San Antonio struggled massively under the bright lights of New York on Wednesday evening.

During a trip to the free-throw line in the second half, Knicks fans took the opportunity to troll the No. 1 pick over his lackluster game, serving Wembanyama with a classic “overrated” chant.

Fans in the arena were clearly overjoyed with the Knicks’ big lead over the Spurs, and they wasted no time giving Wembanyama a proper welcome to the Big Apple.

Wembanyama had just two points at the end of the first half. It was the first time in his brief NBA career that he failed to make a field goal before halftime.

“I heard from so many people that this is the best basketball gym in the world and I’m eager to find out,” the rookie said of Madison Square Garden before the game.

“It’s not as big as I expected, but the vibe is still there,” he added.

Despite Wembanyama’s confident pregame remarks, the 19-year-old struggled in his first road game in New York, and fans held nothing back while taunting him.
