US launches more strikes on Iran after Trump declared ceasefire over

  • The U.S. military has carried out a second round of strikes on Iran after President Donald Trump declared that an interim agreement to end the war was "over."
  • The strikes come less than 24 hours after Trump ordered initial strikes on Iran in response to three ships being attacked in the Strait of Hormuz.
  • U.S. Central Command said Wednesday that American forces are “attempting to further degrade their ability to threaten freedom of navigation in the Strait of Hormuz.”
  • "The United States is holding Iran accountable for recent unjustified aggression against commercial shipping and civilian crews freely navigating a vital international waterway," the U.S. military wrote.
  • Iranian state media reported explosions, including in the port city of Bandar Abbas on the strait and in Sirik, another southern coastal city.
