Urgent recall of common antidepressant after wrong medicine found in pack

  • Health officials have recalled a batch of the antidepressant Sertraline after a patient discovered Citalopram tablets inside a sealed pack.
  • UK-based pharmaceutical company Amarox issued a "precautionary recall" for Sertraline 100mg tablets, batch number V2500425, following the manufacturing error.
  • The Medicines and Healthcare products Regulatory Agency (MHRA) stated the error occurred during the secondary packaging of blister strips into cartons.
  • Patients prescribed Sertraline 100mg from the affected batch are advised to check their medication and contact their pharmacy if Citalopram is found.
  • Those who may have mistakenly taken Citalopram are urged to seek immediate medical advice due to potential side effects such as nausea, headache, and anxiety.
