Udaipur horror: Protest takes place in Bhim in Rajsamand; police resort to aerial firing, baton charge to stop protesters

JAIPUR: A protest took place in Bhim town in the Rajsamand district of Rajasthan over the Udaipur murder on Wednesday.

Police resorted to aerial firing and baton charge to stop the protesters from heading to sensitive areas.

Stone-pelting was also reported, as per ANI.

One constable was injured after being reportedly attacked with a sharp object.

Meanwhile, a day after the horrifying killing of the tailor in Rajasthan's Udaipur, the state police said while two people are the main accused, three more have been taken into custody.

"Two men are the main accused so far. Besides them, we have taken three others into our custody, with whom they were in contact," Rajasthan director general of police ML Lather said while responding to questions on on the murder of Kanhaiya Lal in Udaipur on Tuesday.

He said, "The main accused were in touch with the organisation Dawat-e-Islami. One of them also went to Karachi in Pakistan in 2014 to meet the organisation. We're considering it (beheading incident) an act of terror. The case has been transferred to the National Investigation Agency, but the state police will assist in the probe."

Meanwhile, the ASI and SHO have been suspended as they didn't take the required action to calm down the already polarised situation in the area of the victim before this incident happened.
