Tribal girl sexually abused in A.P.’s Mangalagiri

The police have taken two persons into custody for allegedly sexually assaulting an 11-year-old Scheduled Tribal girl at Mangalagiri town in Guntur district of Andhra Pradesh.

The Mangalagiri Town Circle Inspector of Police, Ankamma Rao, told The Hindu that one of accused was the brother-in-law of the victim.

Mr. Ankamma Rao said the two accused had repeatedly raped the girl for weeks. But the victim, out of fear, didn’t report the crime. Following a complaint lodged by the victim’s parent, the police registered a case under POSCO Act and took up investigation.

The girl is being treated at a hospital.
