Travelodge’s latest sale has £8.75pp rooms right by festive Christmas markets

Festive breaks at some of the best Christmas markets in the UK can be bagged for as little as £8.75 per person, per night.

Now that Halloween is becoming a mere spooky memory and the festive ads are dusting off their jingles, Travelodge has launched a special Christmas offer.

The budget hotel chain has put 450,000 cheap rooms up for grabs as November gets under way and into December.

That includes rooms from £34.99 that are large enough for a family of four - working out at just £8.75pp for a family sharing a room.

The best part is that the deal is valid across its 580 UK hotels, many of which are close to the finest Christmas markets on offer in the country.

In recent years the UK has built up an excellent Christmas market scene, with stall holders in cities including Birmingham, Manchester and Nottingham arguably leading the way.

Those who don’t live close by – or who want to get stuck into the bierkeller and bars – can book a cheap Travelodge room to make the most of the festive events.

For example, you could take a trip to Chester where the market is set in an enchanting Victorian Gothic Town Hall, or head to Lincoln’s market which is situated just outside the beautiful 11th century Cathedral.

In a recent poll Manchester Christmas Market - which stretches impressively across the city - centre- was found to be the country's favourite.

For 40 days, the market will open with 220 stalls filled with sweets, drinks, gifts and decorations.

There’s a magical light trail in the city and an ice rink around a giant Christmas tree.

You can even dine on pancakes, churros, Korean hotdogs and festive tipples, before enjoying a festive tipple at the Nordic tipi bar for over 18s.

What is arguably the country's most iconic Christmas market - Birmingham's Frankfurt Market - is also one of the longest running this year, opening for over a month and a half.

It is the largest authentic German Christmas market outside of Germany or Austria, and provides plenty of Bavarian treats including pretzels, schnitzels, bratwursts, and roasted almonds.

The perfect place to stop for a glass of gluhwein, weissbeer (wheat beer), or tasty hot chocolate.

Meanwhile, in Nottingham you can get stuck into the ice rink at the Old Market Square or don a coat and gloves to drink in the ice bar.

Cardiff’s Christmas Market will be sure to dazzle and delight you with trinkets and treasures like glass work, handmade quilts, traditional pewter items and original artwork.

The sale is already live on the Travelodge website with prices from £34.99.
