Merseyside Police has launched an investigation following a burglary at Lloyds Bank in Huyton during the night. Officers received reports the bank on Sherborne Square was raided at around 2.35am today, Tuesday, October 7.

An image provided to the ECHO this morning showed a police cordon in place around Lloyds. Two police officers can also be seen guarding the front doors to the bank.

Detective Inspector Lisa Milligan said: "We are in the early stages of the investigation and are keen to speak to anyone who saw the burglary taking place or saw someone acting suspicious at that time to please get in touch. Please check you CCTV or dashcam footage for anything that might help with the investigation. The smallest detail could be the key to finding the person responsible and removing them from the streets."
