The Voice UK audience calls out judges for failing to pick Welsh priest despite his powerful Greatest Showman rendition

The Voice UK features wannabe stars from across the country and on Saturday, September 17 it was the chance for Welsh priest Jordan Spencer to shine.

Unfortunately Jordan from Fishguard did not have any of the judges, which include Welsh icon Tom Jones, turning around in their big red chairs and choosing him for their team after his powerful rendition of A Million Dreams from The Greatest Showman - even though the audience was clearly on his side. And it was obvious that the gay priest, who had spoken on the show about his struggles with the church, was disappointed.

With tears in his eyes, he said: "I've gone out there, I've given it my all, there is nothing more I could have given to the song." Before performing, Jordan, who is 26, spoke about being a gay priest and being accepted by the church.

He said: "There were challenges and struggles being a gay man and coming into the church however it is about being on the inside and changing it from the inside out. No matter what any person or prophecy said I feel God has called me as I am, as a gay man to be a priest."

After the audience called out that the judges missed a trick in not picking him, the judges recommended that he should continue to practise his singing and come back and perform on the show again.

Elsewhere in the show, Anne Marie revealed she had a tattoo inspired by her co-star Sir Tom Jones. The tattoo reads "we'll be okay" which is the advice Tom has given her. You can read more about that here.

At the last second in the show both Tom and Olly turned for another singer Claire, as they competed to increase their teams. In previous episodes of The Voice, Sir Tom brought his co-stars and audiences to tears when he performed a song about his late wife.
