The Script halt gig mid-song and call in security as Danny O'Donoghue complains at crowd

The Script were forced to pause their concert during a song and call in security after an altercation in the crowd last night.

Front man Danny O'Donoghue and his bandmates were playing their third 3Arena show this week, with free tickets given out for frontline workers from the HSE.

The former Voice judge had praised the energy of the crowd during the evening, but midway through the set had to call in security and halt the show, the Irish Mirror reports.

Danny, unimpressed, said: "We're going to have to stop now and get security in, that's not what tonight's about."

Two young men were reportedly escorted out of the arena by security, and after no more than three or four minutes the rockstar was happy to start the concert again.

The singer was commended by fans and the moment didn't take away from the show, with the crowd dancing all evening, it was reported.

One person on Twitter said of the show: "Security was very disappointing at @3ArenaDublin, teens entered already drunk and with glass bottles of alcohol. @thescript had to stop for a long time until they stopped the fight. They definitely owe them an apology."

3Arena has been contacted for comment by The Mirror.

The latest album from the band, who have been together since 2007, "is a springboard to our next chapter, but it’s also our story so far,” Danny said, adding they are “so excited to be taking it on the road. I know I’m gonna lose it on stage, night after night.”

The Script have had six number one Irish albums, five UK number one albums, six billion streams, and over two million ticket sales with a Greatest Hits Tour.

Their hits include The Man Who Can't Be Moved, Superheroes, Hall of Fame and For the First Time.

In an interview with the Mirror, when asked about the advice he would give his 16-year-old self, Danny said: "Don’t sweat about the small stuff. And I’d also say, “You’re in the right place.” I found music at an early age and I always questioned if it was the right thing.

"One mentor in particular, a hugely successful songwriter, told me when I was 16 that the only difference between him and me was trying.

"That I should keep doing what I was doing, keep chipping away and eventually it’ll happen.

And the best day of his life was "When The Script became the first band in history from Ireland to get to No1 in the UK and Ireland with their debut album. I’ve had a lot of great days, but nothing is going to beat that."
