The Midlands Boxing Takeover Is Presented By GBM Sports As “ICE BREAKER.”

COVENTRY, England — With their first-ever Midlands show, Ice Breaker, set to take place in the Skydome in Coventry on Saturday, March 9th, and exclusively streamed live and for free on talkSPORT, GBM Sports is continuing its explosive ascent through boxing.

GBM Sports Promoter Izzy Asif is hoping to build on his incredible breakthrough year, which saw him land a multi-fight broadcast agreement with the world’s biggest sport radio station talkSPORT to live stream its events on their official YouTube Boxing Channel. GBM Sports Promoter Izzy Asif recently promoted a sold-out show at Sheffield’s Cannon Medical Arena and looks forward to another sell-out arena show on his Midlands debut.

Only a few days after agreeing to a long-term promotional agreement with GBM Sports, Danny Quartermaine (10-0-0) will contest for the IBF European Title in his home territory of the West Midlands. As he battles to become the “Ricky Hatton of the Midlands,” the well-liked boxer who has previously appeared on Sky Sports anticipates having more than 400 of his own supporters in the arena. He is known for his all-action approach. Former EBU European Title contender Alex Rat (17-6-2), who previously battled undefeated Brit and WBO Global Super Featherweight Champion Archie Sharpe (24-0-0), stands in the way of Quartermaine’s moment of glory.

Midlands Lightweight Champion Scott Melvin (8-1-0) will challenge local rival and undefeated prospect Ameen Khalid (7-0-1) for the title he sensationally won in September 2023 in a tantalizing 50:50 bout. The pair are expected to draw large crowds to the Coventry Skydome for their highly anticipated fight, where local bragging rights and the Midlands title are up for grabs.

Prospect Bradley Goldsmith (9-0-0) remains unbeaten and will compete in his hometown as he continues his journey to become the next world champion to come out of the renowned Ingle Gym, joining the ranks of Billy-Joe Saunders, Johnny Nelson, Kell Brook, and “Prince” Naseem Hamed.

In his hometown of Coventry, local fighter River Wilson-Bent (15-4-1) will strive to get back to winning ways. The 30-year-old had a draw against Tyler Denny, the current EBU European Champion (18-2-3), and he has previously competed on networks like DAZN and BT Sport against internationally recognized fighters Austin “Ammo” Williams (16-0-0) and Hamzah Sheeraz (19-0-0).

Nyall Berry (9-0-0), one of the most exciting prospects in the United Kingdom with stunning fluidity and a viciously spiteful style, who dazzled viewers on Sky Sports in his previous bout, hopes to maintain his perfect record on the card in yet another monumental evening for Midlands boxing.

“On March 9th, we’re going to showcase what all of the hype is about. We’re looking forward to coming to the Midlands. This is somewhere I’ve always wanted to put on a show and it’s going to be massive,”  said Izzy Asif, CEO of GBM Sports.

“We’re expecting 3,500 people in a packed out arena. We’ve got two title fights, two undefeated local fighters competing for the Midlands Area title, and some highly tipped debutants on the show,” he added.

Adam Mohammed, Todd Tompkins, Roha Hudson, and Ali Meesam will all make their eagerly awaited debuts on the card in a momentous occasion for the promotional firm.  The show will also feature Minaaz Gurung (2-0-0), Callum Singh (4-0-0), and Musa Moyo (6-0-0).
