The Golden Bachelor’s Sunny & Bear Spill Bulk Tea On Filming, Life Post-Show & Future TV Plans

The Golden Bachelor's Sunny Long and Bear Myrden

While Married At First Sight and Farmer Wants A Wife couples have been announcing breakups left, right and centre lately, there’s one pair who met on reality TV in 2025 who are stronger than ever.

The Golden Bachelor Australia’s Sunny Long and Barry ‘Bear’ Myrden have proven not only that you can find love at any age, but also that the Bachelor franchise remains one of the most successful dating shows in the country.

With the couple recently celebrating their one-year anniversary and the series nominated for Best Structured Reality Program at the 2026 Logie Awards, PEDESTRIAN.TV caught up with Sunny and Bear to chat all about how he made his decision, what happened after the cameras stopped rolling and the exciting projects they want to take on next.

How Bear made his decision on The Golden Bachelor

Sunny, a CEO and mother of three, was an immediate fan favourite on the reality show and quickly stole Bear’s attention. The Canadian-born suitor explained that his process on the show was to be open to connecting with all 20 ladies, but it soon became hard to deny his feelings for the South Korean contestant.

“It was a crazy process, but as time went on, Sunny’s ranking kept getting higher. A few of the other ladies started dipping a bit, so at the end, I was confident,” he shared.

“The toughest part by far was saying goodbye to any of them. They’re all lovely, intelligent, smart, vulnerable, and it’s so hard to make that decision based on very little and hope that you’ve made the right choice. But in the end, I’m sure I did.”

Although Sunny technically beat out the other contestants to win Bear’s heart, she confessed that she feels “uncomfortable” with the word ‘winner’ because she doesn’t believe the show is a competition.

“I don’t think it’s about winning. I’m not better than anyone else; just the connection happened,” she said.

“I never imagined he was going to pick me, and I just enjoyed the moment and wanted to build some friendships with the ladies. It’s just a unique way to meet your future partner, that’s for sure, especially in that environment.”

What happened after the cameras stopped rolling

Similar to other reality dating shows, there was a seven-month gap between when The Golden Bachelor finished filming and started airing on TV, so Sunny and Bear had to keep their romance a secret from the public

“There were lots of conjugal visits,” Bear joked. “We went covert a little bit. We met up in secret places, had secret rendezvous.”

“He’s 007, and I’m his Bond girl,” Sunny added with a laugh. “My heart was full of love like, ‘Okay, it’s done now, I just want to be with him’, but you couldn’t. You had to keep everything secret.”

Since then, the couple have yet to announce an engagement, discuss wedding plans or explore ways to use their newfound platform, but they insist nothing is off the table.

“It was such a fun, positive experience that we’d certainly be open to any other opportunities that may pop up,” Bear said. “If we do have a personal announcement to make, we’ll certainly find the right venue, but there’s no announcement just yet.”

Future reality TV shows

As for future TV appearances, Sunny said she’s open to anything and everything — including The Traitors, Travel Guides, Dancing With The Stars and The Block.

“Bear could be the builder, and I could be the interior designer,” Sunny remarked about competing on the renovation series.

“I would love to change the format if I did that. I was thinking one of my daughters and one of his sons could do it with us as a family [of four]. That would be fun, and there’s entertainment value in how the family discuss the project together and how they decorate each room.”

Bear, on the other hand, had his own thoughts about entering the reality TV multiverse, joking: “You can put her on Love Island and me on Alone.”
