Suspected home raiders lead police on a high speed car chase in Glasgow

Suspected house raiders lead police on a high speed car chase through the streets of Glasgow before the driver was arrested in the early hours of this morning.

Officers were responding to reports of the theft of a Ford Focus during a break-in at a property in the west end. While searching the area cops spotted what they believed to be the stolen motor, allegedly speeding with no lights on and said to have had a number of men onboard.

They pursued the car at speed before it stopped in the Temple area and the occupants fled on foot. Officers caught the driver before he was arrested and charged.

A statement published on Police Scotland's social media said: "Around 5am on Monday, April 24, Glasgow road police and Lanarkshire road police responded to reports of a theft of a motor vehicle after a house breaking in the west end.

"While searching the area this Ford Focus was spotting driving away at high speed with no lights and a number of males on board.

"It was pursued through the area until the occupants made off on foot in the Temple area.

"The driver was captured, arrested and charged for a number of road traffic offences and held for court."
